Putting Community at the Center: The Funder’s Role in Fostering Authentic Community Engagement
September 15th, 2016
Philanthropy Massachusetts, 133 Federal Street, Suite 802, Boston, MA
Consultant, Grantmaker, Philanthropic Advisor
What are pitfalls and best practices for funders in effectively integrating community voices into community change? How can funders more actively involve grantees and those with lived experience who have historically been left out of decision-making processes? How should funders themselves coordinate their activities and investments, while also engaging the community in collective impact?
This session will address these questions and more in a discussion of when and how to authentically engage community voices. Hear lessons from a learning community of funders around the country who have discussed funder / grantee engagement in their collaborative investments. Then engage with fellow Philanthropy MA members on what it takes to achieve authentic community engagement.
