Massachusetts Arts Funders' Group is a bi-monthly meeting space for funders from across the state investing in arts and culture. The group explores specific topics of relevance, elevates examples of interesting work, and participates in site visits. Priority topics for presentations, trainings, and visits are identified by the group. The meetings also provide a chance to network and update peers on current work, challenges, and opportunities.
The topic of this meeting is Preparing the Next Generation of Artists: a conversation with art school leaders. Joined by President Roger H. Brown (Berklee) and President Kurt T. Steinberg (Monserrat College of Art), and Dean Harvey Young (Boston University) the group will discuss what it means to prepare the next generation of artists. What is different today than 10 years ago? What are current trends? What’s working and what’s not in arts higher education? The session will be moderated by Deborah Obalil, President and Executive Director of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design.
