Grants Enhance the Lives of Military Members and Veterans

The Bob Woodruff Foundation invests in programs that support post-9/11 impacted veterans, service members, their families, and caregivers.

Proposals must fall within one (or more) of our three core areas in order to be considered:

  • Education and Employment
  • Rehabilitation and Recovery
  • Quality of Life

Programs considered for funding must:

  • Be administered through a non-profit organization
  • Demonstrate commitment and access to the post-9/11 military/veteran community
  • Clearly articulate an understanding of the issue(s) to be addressed
  • Be evidence-based and/or supported by peer-reviewed research
  • Establish planned and measurable program goals and outcomes
  • Collaborate with existing community resources and organizations
  • Provide solutions that complement services and resources provided by the U.S. Departments of Defense, Labor, and Veterans Affairs
  • Exhibit appropriate scale to optimize impact and resources
  • Demonstrate potential replicability to other organizations and/or locations
  • Plan for program sustainability

How to apply for funding:

  • During the open submission period of a grant cycle, follow the link below to complete our online proposal summary.
  • Throughout your proposal summary, please provide appropriate citations in the following format: (Author, YEAR).
  • After you have submitted the proposal summary, please email your current 990, supporting evidence, and sources cited in your proposal to grants@bobwoodrufffoundation.orgYour proposal is not complete until you provide your current 990, supporting evidence, and documents cited in your proposal.
  • You will receive an email confirmation once your submission and supporting materials have been received. If you do not receive a confirmation receipt within 3 business days after emailing 990 and supporting documents, please resend materials.
  • The Bob Woodruff Foundation’s program team reviews each proposal individually in the order they were received. We take pride in our process and are dedicated to being as transparent as possible in our final decisions. We will reach out to every program that submits a proposal informing them of our determination. We ask that applicants remain patient while our team is working through our process.

Our application process is a rolling two-step process. After reviewing your proposal, BWF may invite you to submit a more detailed application for a BWF grant.

Please submit your proposal as early as possible. BWF will review proposals and send invitations to apply throughout the proposal period.

Being invited to submit an application does not guarantee funding. We often consider more programs than we ultimately fund.

The proposal summary submission period is now open for the Bob Woodruff Foundation’s Spring 2020 grant cycle! Please ensure that you have read and understand the directions above and follow the link here to begin your proposal.

Submit your proposal summary by December 19, 2019 to be considered for the Spring 2020 grant cycle. We will not accept proposal submissions for the Spring 2020 grant cycle dated after December 19, 2019.
