Support for Deerfield River Watershed Preservation
The Vermont Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts have announced the opening of the 2019 grant cycle for the Deerfield River Enhancement Fund, which was established in 1999 for the environmental preservation of the Deerfield River watershed.
Eligible grant recipients include nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and units of local and regional government in Vermont and Massachusetts. Proposed projects must be located within the Deerfield River basin, or in towns with some portion falling within the basin; provide clear public benefits; and contribute to the goals of enhancing low-impact recreational, environmental education, or environmental protection opportunities directly related to the Deerfield River watershed. To that end, funds may be used for outdoor educational programs, including curriculum development and travel for students, interpretive materials, and signs.
Approximately $14,000 in grants will be awarded in 2019.
For organizations wishing to apply, Letters of Inquiry should be submitted via the online grants system no later than May 31, 2019. Applicants will be notified within a month after submitting an LOI whether the evaluation committee would like to see a full proposal. Full proposals are due by August 2, 2019, with grant awards to be made by November 29, 2019.
